Why have I avoided blogging about the brain for so long?
It's a mystery to me why I haven't made this a supreme area of focus on my other blog. Perhaps I don't feel qualified, but to that I say f*ck it! I am KUNG FU PANDA, I DON'T dream about noodles and I'm blogging about this stuff anyway!
Part of what I mean by this, is that I've blogged off and on at Liboleth's Labyrinth, a blog I started in November of 2008, which addressed a multiplicity of topics. I am realizing, tho', that just like in real life, while I am deeply curious about and interested in many topics, I am getting more and more clear that this brain stuff must be where I focus my energies. That level of focus is hard for me because I care so deeply about so many other topics. But really, whatever I agency and advocacy I offer to those other topics must now come primarily through the lens of brain function. At least for now.
I live in a co-housing community, in an ADHD-friendly household with my family, dog, and lots of dust bunnies. I work with students individually using assessments and remediation. I am curiosity driven and believe that the best way to navigate challenging constellations of issues is to seek data that helps me to refine my questions. One of my favorite quotes is from Albert Einstein, "The important thing is not to stop questioning; curiosity has its own reason for existing."
